Some interesting things have happened since my last check-in, and I'll list them below (I've used some large-print titles to summarize for those of you who haven't yet invested in spectacles) so that you're all up to speed in CFordland. No news is good newsExcept for this news: I was reviewed in the Straight! The Georgia Straight got an advance copy of my EP and wrote a nice summary/review last month. Big-ups and high-fives aplenty have been exchanged in the Ford household. It's always fun to see your name in the paper, and my mother will no doubt keep a clipping for eternity. I only hope that it eventually becomes part of a larger, creepy shrine to my achievements (like this one). Also: show next SundayDo you like Dinosaurs (the ancient reptiles, not the 90s sitcom)? Do you like Aliens (the plausibly denied extraterrestrials, not the 80s movie villians)? Do you like guitars? Do you like people who play guitars and occasionally mention dinosaurs and aliens? Then you'll love this news: I've got a big show this weekend!! Sinead Sanders, Marc Alexandre, and myself will be gracing the uber-classy stage at Cafe Deux Soleils on Commercial Drive on June 30th. We are going to party hearty and rock one of Commercial's biggest and best houses, and although I'll be saying a tearful goodbye to my wife that evening for almost a month, it's going to be one heck of a night! I'm actually reserving some space in my set for some of my more apocryphal, weirder songs (where I sing about the aforementioned dinosaurs and aliens), so it should make for quite the event. This is probably my last big whoop-up of the summer as Cath and I have a crazy, travel-filled schedule starting in mid-July and going until the end of August. (To my friends who scheduled their marriages in Calgary and Edmonton back-to-back-to-back-to-back, I'd be so mad atcha if I wasn't so happy for you.) Also also: Heroes and Heathens updateFor those of you anxiously awaiting the EP release, it's almost ready. We're putting the finishing touches on the artwork (which is AWESOME) and should have the product available this summer. I've been getting lots of eager requests, but please keep in mind that we are a VERY independent operation!! Like a Mom'n'Pop shop, except that in this case I am the Mom and the Pop and there is no actual shop. Actually, forget that whole metaphor. FinallyEverybody dance!!! - CFord
