Hey team - thanks to everyone who stopped by to download 'Nothing on Me' and literally steal my hard work out from underneath me! The song is now available for download over on the store page and will set you back $0.99 (ninety-nine cents). At these prices, I sure hope you make an honest living. In other news, we had a really successful show on Tuesday at the Cellar - thanks to everyone who came out and bought CDs!! The next show is lined up for March 8th at Trees Organic (Granville), so hopefully we'll get another good crowd out. I'm actually doing some more recording this Saturday, and I plan to post some pics and maybe even video from that session this weekend. Don't forget to check back in on Sunday night (or more realistically, Monday morning) to snap up the next free download! Hugs and kisses, Your favorite CFord PS. Remember this commercial, anyone?

Let me start by saying that I have learned an important lesson about deadlines (you may have noticed that this post squeaked in just before midnight PDT, which means *technically* I delivered it on Sunday as promised). My wife and I celebrated our (belated) 6-month wedding anniversary today by driving out to Abbotsford for mini golf at Castle Fun Park. After all that driving -- and the humbling experience of outscoring (remember, in golf that's a bad thing) the missus by what at one point was double digits and what would've stayed that way had the putt-putt gods not wisely instituted a mercy rule on our scoresheet -- I almost succumbed to sleep instead of delivering the free music I promised you all last Sunday. I guess next time I'll get the hard work done at the start of the weekend. I seem to recall trying to institute a similar policy back in college and it working out for at least a week or two. So, pleasantries aside, it's my pleasure to introduce your ears to the first new CFord track of 2013! I recorded Nothing on Me with Aman Brar in October. We laid the guitars down in only three or four takes, and then I did the vocals all in one go*. I'm very proud of this song and I hope you all love it as much as I do. *this is a bold-face lie. If you have any problems with the above link, try the Music page of my website. It rarely bites, and if you scratch it under its chin it will purr in contentment. Remember, you can download this track for free until Tuesday, then it's gonna be a buck - the whole 'paying for music' thing is a new concept for me, too. I bet some of you more tech-savvy folks will find a way to get this onto Grooveshark and cheat me out of my money. You magnificent scoundrels! Who am I kidding? I can't stay mad at you guys! So enjoy, share with friends, shout it from the rooftops (but please, only at a reasonable hour), and generally get down to the funky beat! Yours in rockitude, CFord
Okay, CFord fans. Are you ready for some big news? Well - GOOD NEWS, EVERYONE!! As you know, I've spent most of the fall recording some high-quality acoustic tracks with a couple of local producers. (Bringing another person into the recording process was fun but intimidating.) Starting next Sunday, I am going to be rolling out those tracks once per week for download. Every Monday, you'll have two days to download the new track for free. After that two-day window, the track will still be available for download but it'll cost ya one buck. Eventually, go-getters will assemble the entire collection, and then those who missed the full scope of the promotion will still have the ability to download the rest of the demo for $5. While all of this is going on, I've also lined up another radio interview and performance - a friend of mine, John Prentice, is guest-hosting a radio program for CJSF and I'll be appearing on his show on Tuesday, Feb. 19th. If this whole thing is successful, I'll try to keep the tracks coming. I have a lot of material that fans have probably heard live that I'd like to release, and I simply haven't been producing recordings fast enough to keep up to my ever-changing stage catalogue. I cooked up this whole idea in part just to get a sense of how much demand there is for more CFord tunes. So check back in next Sunday - there will be treats! Have a great week, folks! And why not? It's 2013 and the rain is coming hard in Vancouver, but a new year means a new summer and a lot of new music from your friendly neighborhood CFord. New shows. New tunes. New lots of things! For example - stickers!!! People love those things, right? Well, let's just say that things are in the works and leave it at that. When's your first show, Chris? ...the answer is that you missed it! It was Friday at Trees Organic. Thanks to everyone who came and to everyone who bought CDs! I'm going to try to post some of Bombieri (the act that followed me)'s performance this weekend, because it was well worth seeing. They were an a capella duo singing Italian folk songs, and they were just fantastic. Major thanks to John Pippus and to Ev for playing great sets as well! I've got a couple more January shows to announce - one at the Princeton Pub (good old Princeton) on Wednesday, January 16th and one at the Cellar on Granville on the 29th. I'll check back in with you guys after next week's show with more news, as there's a lot of developments in the works right now. I hope your holidays were all fantastic, and I hope you're prepared to party hearty this year. I sure am. Head over to this page for more people in dinosaur masks. I hope you don't have any plans for the next thirty minutes, because that's how long you'll spend reviewing it. Peace for now. -CFord |
