Ladies, gentlemen, and smizmars, I give you "Every Good Soldier," the 5th song from my forthcoming EP (to be titled Heroes and Heathens, as we learned in last week's instalment of the CFord Digest)!  It's a sort of soul ballad.  As I was recording this down at Rukkus House Studios in late March, I had a general idea of the shape of the song - having performed it frequently at recent gigs and even on air during my last radio show - but I wasn't too sure of what to do about getting some more instrumentation involved.  I told the engineer that I'd love to do some claps or snaps to give it an off-the-floor feel.  "Dude," he retorted, "this song needs, like, 3 mournful black women from the 1950s singing gospel." 

While the gospel-eers were not in supply, we tried to let that feel and idea guide us.  This song is now yours to enjoy; I hope you treat it with the tenderness it deserves!

In truth, this is not the final song that I will be placing on the EP.  Well, it sort of is and sort of isn't.  See, I spent a lot of time recording a 'full-band' version of another song I've already released to y'all, and the truth is that you're going to like it.  Tune in once again next week to find out which tune will be updated and what madness you'll get when you purchase the new EP!

Hey you.  Yes, I'm talking to you.  Do you like music?  You do?  Well, I'm not surprised.  

You, uh, could come on out and listen to some, then.  Sometime.  Y'know, just, like, whenever you get a chance.  There's a good show happening on May 3rd - that's a Friday - in Kitsilano at the Wired Monk.  Might be worth a looksee - local badboy CFord will be playing some sounds.  And June 7th - that's a Friday - I think he's playing then, too, at Trees on Granville.  It might sound a little something like this:
